 It’s time to start making your plans to attend the 83rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the Aerospace Medical Association in Atlanta.  Online registration is open, group rate hotel rooms can still be booked, and the itinerary planner for creating a personal schedule for the meeting is up and running on the AsMA Meetings and Events page (http://www.asma.org/meeting/index.php#links).

AsPS Nominations for 2012

The Aerospace Physiology Society of the Aerospace Medical Association is opening the floor for nominations for Elective Officers.
All members in good standing per Article III of the Society By-Laws are eligible for elected office. Officers are elected by the general membership.

The Society elects a President-elect and one Member-At-Large annually. This year (2012) the Society will also elect a Secretary.

Society members may submit nominations via any means (phone, email, correspondence). Eligible AsPS members may nominate themselves. Nominations will close on Friday 17 February 2012. Provide current contact information for each nominee. The Committee will acquire consent of the nominee to accept the nomination, and request a short biography, a statement of key contributions to The Society and AsMA, and a digital photograph.
There are no qualifications other than those stated in the Society By-Laws, however it is recommended that nominees should be considered on overall reputation for excellence in aerospace physiology, contributions and service to The Society and AsMA such as previous office or committee leadership, and general leadership qualities and professionalism.

Call for AsMA Award applications for 2012

Attention AsPS members!

The time has come to consider nominations for this year’s AsMA level Awards.  Nominees must be current members of the Aerospace Medical Association by 1 February 2012, with the sole exception that the Sidney D. Leverett, Jr., Environmental Science Award which is open to nonmembers.

Some of the awards that may be of interest to the aerospace physiology community include, but are not limited to:

  • WALTER AND SYLVIA GOLDENRATH AWARD for Aerospace Physiology.
  • JOHN ERNSTING AWARD for outstanding research in altitude physiology and/or longstanding support of aerospace medicine.
  • HARRY G. MOSELEY AWARD for most outstanding contributions to flight safety.
  • JOHN PAUL STAPP AWARD for outstanding contributions in aerospace biomechanics contributions to promote ejection, vibration, or impact protection.

The AsMA Annual Scientific Meeting – Call for Abstracts for 2012 Meeting in Atlanta, GA.

The AsMA has opened its abstract submission site as of 06 Sep 11.   AsMA members may log in to the site to submit their abstracts for review.  Submission deadline is October 31, 2011.

The Aerospace Physiology Society will once again be putting together a panel of presenters and invite you to contact us to assist in submitting  your abstract and including it in our Training & Education Day line up.   We will be focusing on “New Aircraft, New Problems” .

This year’s certification examination will be offered at the 83rd annual scientific meeting of the Aerospace Medical Association on Sunday, 13 May 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia (USA).

Congratulations, Dr. Webb!

The Aerospace physiology society wishes to extend heartfelt congratulations to its member and Past President James T.
